Minecraft snapshot 13w38a (Updated!)

Update: Snapshot 13w38c has been released to fix numerous graphical issues, crashes and item frame issues. The client is available in your launcher, and the server links are below.

There’s a snapshot! It’s called 13w38a! What does it have? Well, that’s Super Secret :)

To get snapshots, open your launcher and press the “New Profile” button. Call it “snapshots” and check the box saying “Enable experimental development snapshots” and save. To switch to the normal version, you can select it in the dropdown at the bottom left corner of the launcher.

MINECON 2013 Call for Panelists

It’s that time again. Time to fill up some epic panels for MINECON 2013.

In past years we’ve had amazing panels about all different Minecraft topics by a variety of speakers. From children to adults, our panelists have included wonderful people from the community with all different backgrounds.

We are looking to find another incredibly interesting and diverse set of panels and speakers.

Mojang invents cloning technology

A few months back I had a casual conversation in the office kitchen talking about the insane amount of things going on at Mojang. I said something in the lines of “I wish I could clone myself”. I remember Tobias mumbling something like “I’ll look into that”.

Yesterday Tobias came back to me and said he had something to show me. Introducing Mojang’s new Vice President: Jonas Mårtensson!

Sometimes it’s just nice to be able to clone yourself… or hire your twin brother.

Minecraft

Minecraft is a game about breaking and placing blocks. At first, people built structures to protect against nocturnal monsters, but as the game grew players worked together to create wonderful, imaginative things.

It can also be about adventuring with friends or watching the sun rise over a blocky ocean. It’s pretty. Brave players battle terrible things in The Nether, which is more scary than pretty. You can also visit a land of mushrooms if it sounds more like your cup of tea.

You can buy Minecraft for PC/Mac. Minecraft: Pocket Edition is available for iOS and Android, and Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition is available on the XBLA Marketplace. So far 12,315,382 people bought the PC/Mac version of the game. Phew.
